Every Friday we ask a business owner some straight talking questions in the hope that their answers will provide insight, advice, and inspiration.

The opinions stated in this feature are not Accretion’s and are wholly those of the person in the spotlight.

  • Tell me about your business in less than twenty words

I’m a Small Business Systems Expert. I save business owners time and increase efficiency by embedding the right apps and systems in their business.

  • What made you want to be an entrepreneur?

(I don’t consider myself to be an entrepreneur), however, having worked on large-scale technology projects most of my career I wanted to offer those skills to smaller businesses where the results are highly beneficial and can have an impact immediately.

  • What’s the BEST thing about being the boss?

Freedom to decide your own destiny and professional development

  • Do you have any gems of advice for entrepreneurs starting out today?

Do thorough market research to find your niche. Test your product or service just as thoroughly, be able to describe it in less than 25 words. If you can’t then your target market won’t understand it. Automate as much of the back office as you can or outsource from day 1, admin time will lose you money. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, use/develop your peer group network.

  • Where will the business be in five years?

Extend services to companies outside South Wales embracing technology as a vehicle for a remote model.

  • Hindsight is a wonderful thing: what would you do differently if you were back at Day 1, Year 1?

Better market research to find my niche more quickly

  • How will the exiting of the EU community affect you?

Unsure at the present time, likely little or no effect except (probably) general market uncertainty resulting in lower spends by businesses.
